Notice the pictures link over on the side bar. We have a few pictures up from various activities at The Well. If you have pictures you’d like to add, click the “get in touch” link over on the right.
Also, Matt is writing a few articles for the facebook group, “The Art of Living - World Bible School”, along with several other authors. These articles deal with issues of living as Christians in the world today. Matt’s written on forgiveness and social justice so far, with more articles coming weekly.
The Well is looking for a member who would like to be our liaison with the Inter-faith Council for Social Services (IFC). This person would attend monthly meetings at the IFC and learn about opportunities for our congregation to be involved in the ministry of the IFC, and also be a voice for our congregation with the IFC. If you’re interested in this role, click the “get in touch” link over on the right.
Have a great week!

Thanks to everyone who came out for Sustainability Sunday! We had a good day together. As we talked about social justice and environmental concerns, we acknowledged that we have regrets for how the church has dropped the ball on some of these issues. But we celebrated together God’s concern for us and our planet and renewed our commitment to take care of people and to take care of the earth.
To check out some of the opportunities we presented for us to take action, check out our Action List.
To review some Bible teachings about the environment, check out Environment.

Peace,
Matt

We had a different sort of day at The Well this week. Sunday was the Carrboro Music Festival, a free music festival with over 100 bands playing. Both of our meeting rooms at the Arts Center were venues for the festival and parking was at a premium, so we weren’t expecting a large crowd as we gathered in Studio 6 at the back of the Arts Center. With a jazz band playing a few feet away, we focused again on community. We worked on phase 2 of the mural we began last week. I framed our work with some scripture about community, and as we worked together, children and adults, to bring our mural to life, it was a great expression of community.
Shelly Hehenberger, who is coordinating/leading us in this project, is a local artist whose work is currently on display in the gallery at the UNC Student Union. She and her family are a great blessing to our faith community.
More pictures here and more to come when the project is complete!
Peace,
Matt

This Sunday, October 5, we’ll have Sustainability Sunday at The Well. This will be a day to focus on social justice and environmental concerns. We’ll talk a little about general, worldwide issues, but our goal is to bring it home to our community. What can we do to make a difference here at home?
To this end, we’ve invited several local groups that focus on these areas to set up displays so that everyone can find a way to get involved on the spot. I hope you’ll join us this Sunday, 5:00 at the Arts Center and strengthen an old commitment or make a new one to be a difference maker.
We’ll be in the West End theater at the Arts Center. Sunday is Festifall in Chapel Hill, so you may want to spend the afternoon in Chapel Hill enjoying some terrific music. Regardless, come a little early to allow for traffic and find a parking space.
Peace,
Matt

This Sunday, September 28, is the Carrboro Music Festival. The Arts Center is one of the venues for the music festival, so we will be meeting in one of the studios in the back of the building. There is an outside entrance behind the building that will take you straight in to our meeting space. We’ll spend our time sharing conversation and communion, and continuing work on the mural we began this week.
After our abbreviated time together, we encourage everyone to participate in the music festival.
There will not be a separate children’s program this week; children are welcome to participate with the adults.
Peace,
Matt
